Ceramics workshop with Lisbeth Kring

Decorate a vase inspired by the distinctive idiom of the Saxbo workshop. Lisbeth Kring from The Deep Platestår for the tutorial where you will learn different techniques to decorate your own vase.

Lisbeth takes the participants through the special exhibition SAXBO — stoneware for the people (25 January — 20 September 2026) to draw inspiration for the creative part of the workshop. Next, Lisbeth reviews the techniques used in the Saxbo workshop to scratch patterns and structure in the clay before the ceramics were glazed and burned. Lisbeth brings a hand-turned leather-hard vase for each participant, which one can scratch patterns in under knowledgeable guidance.

Subsequently, the vases must be dried, heated, glazed and burned at Lisbeth's workshop. Approximately 4 weeks after that, the finished fired stoneware vases can be picked up at CLAY.

The workshop is aimed primarily at adults and does not require any pottery prerequisites — anyone can learn how to decorate a beautiful vase. The workshop lasts approximately 1½ hours and the price includes admission to CLAY, teaching, one vase, glaze and burning.
